French beauty products are some of the most sought-after products by women everywhere. French beauty products are known for their quality and natural ingredients. Just like their clothing, French women prefer quality over quantity.
Beauty The French Way
French women always seem to have that effortless look with everything they do from dressing to how they wear their makeup and hair. Contrary to what we think though, the French do put time into how they look and how they take care of their skin. They just have a great way of not letting it show.
French women prefer a natural look on their face versus looking like they have anything on at all. The ingredients are all of the highest quality and natural. They prefer investing in better products and having less of them.
Of course, the most important part of any beauty routine is to drink plenty of water each day to keep your skin hydrated and looking fresh.
Anytime, I make it to Paris I always make sure to stock up on my favorite French beauty products. A visit to a French pharmacy is unlike any other experience. Pharmacies in France focus on skin care advice, dispensing medication, and beauty products only.

Nuxe Body Oil– This was one of the first French beauty products I bought back in 2009 when we went to Paris. I knew nothing about it but I knew I needed a body oil. To this day this is still the best all-around oil I have used. I use this Nuxe oil for not only my body but also put some on the ends of my hair every night to keep it hydrated. The oil smells amazing and incredibly light. It’s not greasy at all and leaves you feeling a bit elevated and sexy.
Avène Hand Cream– Living in the Midwest I take my hand cream very seriously. The Winters tend to be brutal here and my hands are incredibly dry and cracked sometimes. I am always looking for a new hand cream to add to my list. I found this one this year at a French pharmacy and so far am highly impressed. It’s very nourishing, thick, but doesn’t feel heavy and not greasy. Excited to use this during Winter and see how it works.
Caudalíe Vinoperfect Serum– This serum has been a cult favorite in France for more than a decade. It reduces the appearance of dark spots and brightens the complexion. I can say firsthand it does exactly what it claims. I started using it for some dark spots months ago and can definitely tell a difference in their appearance. They are not gone by any means but much lighter in appearance. You want to use this serum in combination with the Vinoperfect Instant Brightening Moisturizer for the best results.
Klorane Dry Shampoo– Having dark hair, a good dry shampoo can be hard to find. I struggled with finding one for years that didn’t leave white flakes in my hair. Since I started using the Klorane Dry Shampoo, I haven’t found one any better. The dry shampoo absorbs oil from the hair & scalp in 25 seconds and regulates oil production for up to 48hrs. I also love the way it leaves my hair feeling full of volume. Now I only wash my hair twice a week and use this dry shampoo in between washes.
Bioderma Micellar Water– Most amazing makeup remover I’ve used. I tried several different brands from Target and nothing comes close to this micellar water. I use it to take off my makeup and I will also use it as a toner if I run out of my current one or anytime I feel like my face needs a little refresher. This micellar water is hydrating so will not dry your face out or leave any type of residue.
La Roche-Posay Sunscreen– I started using this sunscreen several years ago at the recommendation of my dermatologist. It’s very lightweight and not greasy at all so you hardly know you’re wearing sunscreen at all. The one I use is tinted so the days I don’t feel like wearing any foundation I will just put this sunscreen on, swipe some powder over it and my face is ready. My only regret about this sunscreen is I wish I would have started wearing it years ago, now I don’t go a day without it.
Bioderma Lip Balm– Lip balm is another one of those products I am always searching for the perfect one. This one is incredibly hydrating and smooth. My test for lip balms is always how it works when the air becomes specifically dry and my lips start to crack. Bioderma uses a combination of vaseline and shea butter in this lip balm to provide instant hydration. This has become my number one lip balm and I have them stashed all over the house and in basically every bag I carry. I stocked up on several in Paris but you can also buy these on Amazon in a two pack.
La Roche-Posay Eye Cream– Claims to reduce the look of under-eye bags and puffiness and moisturize for 24 hours. It contains fragmented Hyaluronic Acid to moisturize and soothe skin. To be honest, I don’t know much about this eye cream but I love so many of La Roche-Posays products that I wanted to give this a try.
Embryolisse Crème– This is the first time I will be using this cream. I’ve heard so many wonderful reviews that I had to pick some up this time. Makeup artists swear by this cream for hydration before applying makeup on models and actresses. It also serves as a makeup remover, cleansing lotion, and makeup primer. It’s fast-drying and not overwhelmingly thick, but also protects your skin’s barrier so you retain much-needed hydration. I specifically can’t wait to use this in colder months and see how my skin feels.
Sisley Toner– Most people don’t think of toner being an important step in your skincare regimen but it’s very important. Toner preps your skin for the rest of your regimen and allows everything else to penetrate and restores skin PH. This Sisley toner has extracts of rose, cornflower, and witch hazel, which are known for their soothing and softening properties.
Now you know the French beauty products you need to add to your regimen for beautiful natural-looking skin the French way.

I am traveling to Paris for the first-time next month, December 2022 to celebrate my 50th bday, my husband’s 55th bday and our 20th wedding anniversary. I have devoured your blog to prepare for the trip. From the fashion advice, how to not look like a tourist, French customs and etiquette, restaurants, shopping, beauty, I have made tons of notes!!!! I am refreshing my high school French, made a list of beauty products to purchase, booked only one excursion a day so we have plenty of time to wander, and plan to immerse ourselves! I live in a warm climate and wear scrubs to work, so I purchased a few new winter items too! LOVE LOVE LOVE all your advice! I feel so ready to live this dream! It’s been a long time coming! Thank you!!!!
