French Beauty Morning Routine
French Beauty
Over the years, I’ve been incorporating more of a French beauty morning routine into my day. I have found numerous products which I love and now consider my French beauty staples.
French girl beauty is one of those subjects we all want to know about. There are countless articles out there talking about the secrets of French girl beauty and how we can all get it. It’s one of those mesmerizing things about the French we love to hear about.
Every time I travel to Paris, I try and grab a few new products to try out. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing a French pharmacy, they are like no other.
A French pharmacy is completely different from the pharmacy we are used to here in the states. Basically, a French pharmacy consists of being able to get medication and buy beauty and body products. The pharmacist is even specialized in beauty products and is more than willing to help you find the perfect product.
Thankfully, these days you can buy many different French beauty products in the U.S. I have found some tend to be more expensive than in France, but at least we can get them here now.
However, I always stock up when I am in Paris because they are much cheaper. I have an ongoing list of products I always buy when I am over there.
Here are the exact steps of my French beauty morning routine in the exact order I use the product. You can also see all the French makeup products I use as well.
LA ROCHE-POSAY Gel Cleanser
I start each morning with La Roche-Posay Effaclar Face Wash. It’s a medicated gel cleanser specifically containing salicylic acid to help with acne. My skin tends to be acne prone, even at 47, so I find this product works the best for that skin type.
This cleanser is still very gentle and you don’t need much, just a small dab will do. I use this in the morning before I jump in the shower.
CAUDALÍE Vinopure Toner
Caudalíe is one of the first French beauty brands I started using years ago. I have used several of their products off and on since my first trip to Paris in 2009 but there are a few which have become part of my daily routine.
After washing my face, I will use this Caudalíe Vinopure Toner all over my face. I just take a small cotton pad and massage it and rub this all over my face.
This toner has 100 percent-natural salicylic acid, which helps to exfoliate, reduce oil, and minimize the appearance of blackheads and pores.
I use this toner morning and night as it helps to make sure I’ve properly cleansed my face as well. It’s light and doesn’t sting but feels refreshing.
CAUDALÍE Premier Cru Anti-Aging Serum
I started using the Caudalíe Premier Cru anti-aging line toward the middle of last year after reading lots of reviews. I was looking for products that contained Hyaluronic Acid to provide extra hydration.
There are 3 products within this line and I use all of them. The first step is the serum, which hydrates and helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. I put this on morning and night but the first is the morning after using my toner.
This serum isn’t greasy at all and has a nice light feel and I can instantly tell a difference when I use this serum compared to others.
Pureality RESET
This Pureality Reset is a French product I picked up on my last trip to Paris from Citypharma (a French pharmacy). It was recommended to me by one of the ladies working there who suggested I use it for some discoloration on my face.
I love the product but the only issue is I can only get it in France. So, I am going to use it while I can until I am able to get more. If I run out before I am able to get more then I will go back to using my Skinceuticals Phloretin CF.
CAUDALÍE Premier Cru Dark Circle Eye Cream
The Premier Cru dark circle eye cream is great for firming and brightening. It has a massaging tip at the end to help apply, which is my favorite part. I use the eye cream morning and night and sometimes even put it in the fridge for extra coolness and effectiveness.
LA ROCHE-POSAY Effaclar Face Moisturizer
The Effaclar Mat is a daily moisturizer I use during the daytime in warmer months. It has a specific technology that helps to target excess oil, mattify skin, and refine pores as well.
This is a very lightweight moisturizer, so that’s why I only use it during warmer months as I need something heavier in the cooler months.
CAUDALÍE Premier Cru Anti Aging Cream
The Premier Cru Anti Aging Cream is what I use in the morning during the winter months and what I use every night in general. Since it’s a thicker-based cream I like to use it at night because my face is very oil prone and during the warmer months need something lighter.
However, in the winter months, I use this morning and night to provide extra hydration for my face. The cream is incredible and I highly recommend it if you are concerned about wrinkles, hydration, or plumped skin.
In the past, I’ve used several creams that were triple this cost and I don’t feel those worked as well as this one.
LA ROCHE-POSAY Tinted Sunscreen
If I am being totally honest, I didn’t start using daily sunscreen until a few years ago which is horrible. My dad has bad skin cancer so I should have known better.
I started using this La Roche-Posay tinted sunscreen because it not only provides protection but also the tint provides coverage as well.
On the days I don’t want to put any foundation or powder on my face, I just go with my sunscreen because it almost acts as a light foundation. It’s a very light feeling and doesn’t feel oily at all. This sunscreen is also highly recommended by my dermatologist.
NUXE Body Oil
NUXE body oil was my very first purchase from a French pharmacy in 2009. I had seen it in a magazine about French beauty and just remember wondering how I could purchase a bottle.
I cherished that first bottle because at that time you couldn’t purchase NUXE online in the states. Some people either love body oil or don’t. I personally have tried several and this is still the one I love best.
I love the smell and the feel of the oil and use it on my body, hands, and feet, and put it in my hair after the shower.
This is also one of those beauty items you’ll find in most French women’s beauty cabinets.
CAUDALÍE Deodorant Stick
This Caudalíe is a natural deodorant I started using last year and so far it’s been great. It took a few times to get used to since it’s a natural deodorant and your body has to adjust. However, at this point, it doesn’t bother me at all and I appreciate the clean ingredients.
The deodorant doesn’t feel sticky and doesn’t leave any sort of residue behind. If you’re looking for a clean deodorant, I highly recommend this one.
Eucalyptus and grape help to provide a clean and refreshing smell.
KLORANE Dry Shampoo
KLORANE has the best dry shampoo for Brunettes I have ever used and believe me when I say, I’ve tried them all. Klorane is well known for its dry shampoo line covering all hair types and has a massive following.
It doesn’t leave behind any flakes or dryness and leaves my hair feeling nice and thick. I try only washing my hair about 2 times a week and use this in between washes.
I spray mine directly into my hair when I need it, wait about 10 seconds, and then rub it in, followed up by brushing it through my hair.
I actually have this on auto-ship from Amazon and receive 2 new bottles every other month.
A few other French beauty products I keep on hand and use daily are Bioderma lip balm and the Avène Cicalfate Hand Cream, which is one of the best hand creams I’ve ever used.
I would love to know if there are any French beauty products you have in your morning routine. I always love hearing about something I need to try.
