Beauty Products For Skin Over 40 That I am Using Now

Beauty Products For Skin Over 40

Finding the right beauty products for Skin Over 40 can be tricky. One of my main priorities this year is to focus on my skin more with the right products.

Here are the beauty products for skin over 40 that I am using now to help aid in staying healthy and glowy.

These are all products that I have found to work for my type of skin which is aging, acne-prone (yes still at 46), dry and oily.

My skin over 40 is definitely different than at 30 and the products I am using now are different and should be different than the products I used then.

Determining which products are right for your skin is like winning the lottery sometimes I feel. There are so many products out there and they all claim to be the best.

The one thing I have learned is that everyone’s skin is different. What works for one person may not work for another person. Heck, maybe some of the products I am sharing today aren’t right for you.

Necessities For Skin Over 40

There are 3 main ingredients you want your products to contain when you have aging skin.

  • VITAMIN C– Skin brightener, boosts collagen, antioxidant and UV protection.
  • HYALURONIC ACID– Molecule which helps retain water thus skin is more hydrated.
  • RETINOL– Fights wrinkles and boosts collagen.

The beauty products that I am using now are ones I’ve all tried for at least a month. I feel that’s the right amount of time to determine if a product is working or not.

One thing I do several times a year is book a consult with my dermatologist and my esthetician.

My dermatologist looks over my skin for any concerns and the esthetician discusses the products that I should and shouldn’t be using.

I also like to get facials when the seasons change. This year I am thinking about doing a few chemical peels to help with scarring issues and sunspots.

Disclaimer: I sent out a newsletter to my subscribers several months ago talking about products I was going to try from Sephora.

I am here to tell you that I am not using any of those products any longer. None of them worked out for me. I was trying to maybe use products less expensive or maybe cleaner.

I have nothing against clean products at all, I use them all the time. My makeup is all clean but sometimes you just have to use more medical-grade products to get the job done.

The skin over 40 beauty products below are in order of how I use them. Believe it or not, how you put products on your face does matter. You want to start with the thinnest product first and end with the thickest.

Shea Terra Argan Oil & Acacia Honey Facial Wash

My esthetician recommended this Shea Terra Oil Face Wash to me and I am so happy she did. I use this in the morning because it feels refreshing and calming at the same time.

It’s all-natural made with African acacia honey and skin-softening Moroccan argan oil which breaks down dead skin cells and hydrates skin at the same time.

There are times though in Winter when all I do is splash cold water on my face first thing in the morning versus using a face wash. This helps prevent my skin from drying out too much.

Caudalíe Vinopure Minimizing Toner

All of Caudalíe products are amazing and natural. I have tried many over the years and some I am still using to this day.

I love this Vinopure natural salicylic acid toner because it contains a natural salicylic acid. It’s great for pores, acne, and oily skin. Exactly what I need.

After washing every morning and night I use this all over my face and neck and feel refreshed and my skin feels extra clean.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic

Everyone who has Skin Over 40 should be using some kind of vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is a Skin brightener, boosts collagen, and has antioxidant, and UV protection.

The Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is the holy grail of them all. Some of the benefits include: anti-aging properties, evens and brightens skin tone, Improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness. Also, once the product is absorbed it’s effective for 72 hours.

Ask anyone who’s tried this product and I would bet they all agree it’s one of the staple products they use. Despite the hefty price tag, it’s worth every single ounce.

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Acid

SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier

Another amazing Skinceuticals product is the Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier. This product helps to amplify the skin’s hyaluronic acid levels by 30%.

Remember, you need to use a product with Hyaluronic Acid because it helps to retain moisture keeping your face hydrated.

The intensifier also helps to reduce the look of crow’s feet and laugh lines. The main reason I use it though is for the long-lasting hydration it provides to visibly improve the skin’s texture.

This is a great product to use especially during the winter months when the air and our homes are much drier.

Skinceuticals Hyaluronic Acid

At this point, I should be telling you about an amazing Retinol that I am using however I don’t have one at the moment. This will be one thing I am discussing with the esthetician.

I tried the Image Retinol Creme a few times and was quite pleased. I just want to make sure I am getting the proper amount of Retinol that I should be. Hopefully, I can report back soon with a great product.

Neocutis LUMIÈRE® Illuminating Eye Cream

This eye cream was also a recommendation from my esthetician and I couldn’t be happier. I am very very specific and picky about my eye creams.

This Neocutis Lumière has everything I want and need in an eye cream. It’s lightweight and doesn’t leave a greasy residue under my eyes. Plus, it’s incredibly hydrating.

Another major benefit of the product is it contains a complex of PSP growth factors that boost cells’ ability to repair and revitalize skin, increasing firmness and reducing wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid plumps and hydrates while proteins restructure sagging skin. This is something I struggle with and it’s been hard to find an eye cream that combats sagging skin.

Also, it contains antioxidants that protect against environmental damage. These are all benefits Skin Over 40 needs.

Lumière Blue Bottle Eye Cream

SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 242

Clearly, my skin likes Skinceuticals products. This triple lipid restore cream is amazing, highly sought after, and perfect for skin over 40.

I’ve recently talked to several people who have all told me this is their go-to creme. Some of the benefits are Improving the look of skin fullness, texture, and pore appearance.

It’s creamy and rich but not so thick it’s too heavy. I wear this both day and night.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50

If I am being honest, I didn’t start wearing sunscreen daily until a few years ago. I could kick myself now of course.

This La Roche-Posay is one of the best-tinted sunscreens I have found and highly recommended by my dermatologist.

It’s lightweight and not sticky at all. There are some days all I do is wear this sunscreen and no makeup since it’s tinted.

Take it from me, if you aren’t wearing daily sunscreen now then start asap. Your skin will love you for it.

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask

My lips tend to become very dry and this is the only thing I have found that helps especially in Winter.

The Laneige lip sleeping mask does wonders for your lips all while you sleep. It provides an eight-hour time-release moisturizing layer all over your lips

Just put it on before bed and your lips will feel so hydrated and moist when you wake up. I’ve heard about this mask before and thought it was all hype.

Well, the hype on this lip mask is real. If you have a problem with dry lips then you won’t regret this purchase.

3 Favorite Beauty Tips For Over 40

  • Drink plenty of water, eat healthy fats and foods in season to stay hydrated.
  • Make sure to wear sunscreen daily. This is something I wish I would have started doing earlier in my 30s. Make sure to put it on your neck, chest, and back of hands. Again, something I wish I would have started doing earlier.
  • This is a beauty tip I learned from my mom: When putting cream on your neck or face always put it on in and upward motion. This helps prevent skin sag. I’ll never forget this tip my mom told me for as long as I live.

If you have any products you’d recommend I’d love to hear about them. Please let me know in the comments.
