Les Deux Magots
Favorite cafe for an afternoon glass of champagne to people- watch the chic Saint Germain crowd going by. Try and get a table on the side facing the church.
The food here is actually very good but it’s a bit overpriced for a café. However, the location is well worth a few extra euros in my opinion.
Café de Flore
The iconic Parisian Café de Flore is well known for its famous history of intellects and writers who would frequent it. It’s still iconic to this day but it’s also pretty touristy.
However, locals still go as well(and mostly sit inside), so it’s always worth a visit to this café. I would recommend going for breakfast especially if you are interested in taking some good pictures.
Just be aware that you may not receive the best service here due to the fact they know most of the people are tourists. Sit outside on the terrasse but there’s also an upstairs that’s worth a look at and where the bathroom is located.
Le Bonaparte
Le Bonaparte’s blue and red awning are highly recognizable. I love this cafe late in the evening or first thing in the morning. The steak is great here surprisingly for a café. Another perfect people-watching terrace for the chic Saint Germain crowd, especially when work is over and they all head here.
Café de La Mairie
Great café with amazing views of Saint Sulpice and the fountain. I’ve been here early mornings, late afternoons, and late evenings and it’s always consistent. Love the terrace here and the tartines.
Allard
Saint-Germain bistro since 1911, now at the hands of Alain Ducasse. The decor is authentic French, and the food is even better. The service is some of the best I’ve ever had. Make a reservation and dress appropriately. This is a kid-appropriate restaurant. Very pricey but worth it in my opinion.
41 Rue Saint-André-Des-Arts, 75006
La Palette
A cafe with the best vibes and where all the cool kids in the area go. The food is just as good day or night. The inside is quaint and charming but the outside is where all the action takes place. The café spills over onto the sidewalks and street when it’s the busy season. Beware, it has the tiniest bathroom ever inside by the bar area.
Le Pré aux Clercs
A classic French bistro located on rue Bonaparte, Le Pré aux Clercs serves traditional steak and frites as well as roasted chicken. This bistro reminds me of one of those neighborhood places that is always consistent and a go-to. It’s nice and cozy inside and has a great terrace, and the service is also friendly.
Le Procope
We ate at Le Procope twice during our month’s stay in Paris. The restaurant has been here since 1686. Napoleon’s hat is displayed here and rumor has it, that it was used to pay for his debts. Order the Sole Meunière if available. Make a reservation if you can, but you can also walk up and get a table as well, you just might have to wait a bit.
Polidor
One of the best restaurants for food and budget, so much we ate here twice in one day. Great French fare, friendly service, and a scene from Midnight In Paris was even filmed here. Make a reservation here as this place is quite busy especially when they first open for dinner. This is a kid-friendly restaurant.
Le Relais de l’Entrecôte
A Parisian institution is known for its menu of steak, walnut salad, and frites. This is all they serve and they do not take reservations. You must line up with everyone else to get a table and sometimes you can be waiting a while.
Just make sure you like steak because they don’t serve anything else. Also, it’s certainly not the best steak I have ever had, you are going more for the experience. Kids will love this place.
Chez Fernand
Traditional French food in a cozy atmosphere with friendly servers. This was around the corner from our apartment and we couldn’t wait to try it out. You feel like you’re eating dinner in someone’s French kitchen.
The Beef Bourguignon is incredible so if it’s on the menu, make sure to try it out. Make a reservation here as this place is tiny and fills up quickly.
Ralph’s
Located downstairs from the Ralph Lauren store on Boulevard Saint Germain. If you are craving an American Burger in a beautiful luxurious courtyard setting, this is the perfect spot.
Everything here is tasty including the Chicken Paillard, make a reservation as this is a popular spot among tourists and locals alike. Also, take time to walk through the gorgeous store before or after your meal.
Chez Bartolo
A great place for Neopolitan pizza and pasta plus super cute decor, also kid-friendly. I would make a reservation here as well if you can. During the summer, the restaurant fills over into the street and is a great place for a long afternoon lunch.
Le Comptoir du Relais
On our first trip to Paris, we just happened to stumble upon Le Comptoir du Relais and had no idea how famous the restaurant was. The restaurant is connected to the Hotel Relais Saint Germain.
I’ve been back here twice and the food has always been outstanding and incredibly fresh. The inside is quaint and charming but the outside patio is where all the action takes place. The restaurant does not take reservations but is kid-friendly.
Pizza Chic
A great pizza restaurant that is of course chic for those times when you want something to eat early with the kids.
La Gorgée
An unexpected find on our last trip was a cozy bistro serving traditional French dishes but with a healthy twist. Everything from the server to the food, wine, and dessert was incredible. I think we ended up staying around 3 hours because we were enjoying the evening so much.
Aux Prés
This is another restaurant by Cyril Lignac (his other restaurant Le Chardenoux) I absolutely love. Aux Prés is a different story though. Unfortunately, we had horrible service which gave us an overall bad experience.
The restaurant is cool inside and I know people who absolutely love this place, so maybe it’s worth giving it another shot. Lignac also owns the bar next door and a new Asian restaurant called Dragon on the other side of Aux Prés, so clearly he’s doing something right.
Colvert
A French bistro in the Latin Quarter serves seasonal dishes which change weekly. The chef is Arnaud Baptiste, from Top Chef. The atmosphere is so cute inside, a little rustic with beautiful glass windows, but still offers Parisian charm.
The food is incredible and presented beautifully what you would expect from a Top Chef contender. The staff is warm and friendly. Make a reservation here. It’s kid-friendly but double check the menu for the week.
