French Girl Shoes To Wear For Spring
French Girl Shoes To Wear For Spring
With Spring finally making it’s debut this year, it’s time to pull out those French girl inspired shoes to wear for the spring season. Everything from the iconic Espadrille to the stylish and on trend Mary Jane, and my personal French favorite, the gold sandal. French girls always seem to know what stylish shoes to wear each season.
Today, I am sharing 7 French girl shoes for Spring, to help inspire your classic wardrobe and ones you might want to add for the season.
These are all chic and stylish shoes that are versatile and can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
Ballet Flat
Ballet flats are one of the iconic shoe styles. French women own at least one or two styles. They wear ballet flats all year round, mostly in neutral shades of black or brown.
Ballet Flats are versatile, classic, and practical for everyday use. However, this season, Mary Janes also became the new ballet flat.
If you want to change your ballet flat look this season, wear a woven pair, like this style, from Madewell or Margaux.

Mary Jane
Although French girls have been wearing Mary Janes for years, this style has made a resurgence this spring season. Everyone is wearing some Mary Jane, either heeled or flat.
Besides being comfortable and practical, this shoe style is also versatile and can easily be dressed casually or more elevated.
Wear them this spring season with denim, trousers, and even dresses. My favorite way to wear this Soline from Sézane is with an ankle-length pair of denim, a tee, and a blazer.
You can stick with a neutral color like black or beige or go with the color trend of the season, bright red.

Gold Sandals
Wear gold sandals to be extra French and chic this spring and summer. After seeing them all over Paris, I bought my first pair of gold sandals two years ago, the Gloria Sandals from Sézane.
These are the most asked-about sandals I own, and I receive compliments every time I wear them. Nothing is more chic than a pair of gold sandals with a beautiful summer dress or skirt.
French girls have known this secret for years, and brands are finally catching up with this French girl vibe. They are an easy way to elevate any outfit and the one shoe I reach for when I am not sure what to wear.
Invest in this French girl shoe for spring if you want to be extra French. I also own this style from Sézane, but it’s more of a heel and not an everyday shoe like the Gloria style.

Sneakers
Sneakers are a mainstay of French women during any season. In the spring season they will wear sneakers with denim, trousers, and even skirts and dresses.
Popular styles are the French brand VEJA, Adidas Stan Smith and Samba, and high top Converse. You can’t go wrong with comfort when it comes to sneakers.

Clogs
Another French girl shoe for spring is the clogs, which I have been wearing for several years. This might not seem like a shoe style to immediately reach for, but once you start wearing clogs, you will want to add another pair to your closet.
They are classic and a style you will see fashionable Parisians wearing during the spring season with jeans and flowy skirts and dresses.
I started with a pair from my favorite French brand, the Isabelle, from Sézane. They are comfortable and have a chunky wooden heel, which provides support yet isn’t too high.
However, if you’d prefer something not as high and more of a slip-on, try this version from M.Gemi. For a more affordable option, try these from Dr. Scholls.

Fisherman Sandals
Since Paris is a walking city, comfort is the primary concern regarding sandals, but that doesn’t mean giving up looking stylish and chic. Parisian women never compromise comfort over footwear.
This spring, wear a sandal that molds to your feet while adding padding and comfort. I have been loving these Aly Sandals from Sézane, which are buttery soft and feature an ankle strap. I also appreciate that they are platform sandals that provide some height yet are lightweight.
An alternative version is these fisherman sandals from Madewell, which have a similar look but are more flat and not platform.
This sandal style is chic enough for daytime wear with jeans, a blazer, and a tee or button-down blouse.

Espadrilles
Espadrilles are often equated to summers in the South Of France, with a French woman wearing them with floral dresses and carrying tiny basket bags. However, even if you aren’t in the South Of France, you can wear numerous Espadrille styles this spring.
You can choose a platform version like these ankle straps from J.Crew Factory or a flat version from Net-A-Porter.
J.Crew has a collection of these Spanish-made shoes in classic versions, like this two-tone and a leather option. These styles would quickly go with a pair of black linen pants and a top for an easy, breezy, chic summer look.
And, if you’re into color this spring, try this green pair from Sézane. Of course, don’t forget the basket bag to complete your French girl espadrille look.
