5 Fall Clothing Items To Wear Now
Fall Clothing Items To Wear Now
Transitioning from thinking about Summer clothes to Fall is always hard when it’s still 90 degrees outside. Fall is right around the corner though and time to think about those Fall wardrobe pieces. Today I am sharing, 5 fall clothing items to wear now that will take you right into the season.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons for outfits because everything is a bit more cozy and relaxed yet adding in things like blazers and cardigans with booties can still give you a polished look.
Since I cleaned out my closet several months ago and donated 80-90% of my wardrobe, I have been looking for versatile items to add back. I had made a list of items I needed to reinvest in and look for that I could wear from season to season and multiple ways.
These 5 Fall clothing items are ones I am starting with that I am excited to wear and style this Fall.
Everyday Blazer
Blazers are essential in any wardrobe for many reasons. These were one item I did not donate or sell when I cleaned out my closet. I own several blazers in many different colors because they will never go out of style.
When paired with a great pair of denim they help to elevate the look even when trying to be casual.
For instance, you can wear a blazer with a tee, sneakers, or loafers during the day for a work-from-home or office look. During the evening, you can wear the same blazer with a silk camisole and pumps to add a sexy yet chic look.
There are many types of blazers to choose from and it’s always great to have several different ones on hand. A plain black one is always classic and you can never go wrong. However, one with gold buttons or tweed adds an added detail to the blazer elevating the look a bit.
Go for blazers with added details such as gold buttons, plaid ones, neutral colors, and double breasted or oversized.
I recently purchased this navy one from Banana Republic and couldn’t be happier with the blazer. It’s absolutely gorgeous and elevated with the double breast and gold buttons. I love the beige color just as much.
Clogs
Clogs are not an item I ever though I would consider until I saw them this Summer all over Paris. Women were wearing them with dresses, skirts, and even flare jeans.
For those unfamiliar with clogs, they are mostly made from wood and are actually worn worldwide for various reasons in many different cultures.
I started to notice clogs last year in several magazines and websites but seeing them on the streets of Paris confirmed they have become mainstream. They are definitely the shoe trend of the Fall and everyone from Madewell, Loeffler Randall, Nordstrom, and Tory Burch are showing off their clogs this season.
This pair from Sèzane arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to try them. I love the height they provide with more of a thicker heel. I am excited to wear them with my wide leg jeans and a button down or even a cozy cardigan.
Straight Leg Denim
Not being a fan of skinny jeans I couldn’t be more happier to see straight leg jeans have made a comeback. They are the middle of the road for those like me who don’t prefer a tapered ankle. Don’t worry though skinny jean fans, they aren’t going anywhere.
Right now, I am loving the Perfect Vintage Jean from Madewell. It hits in all the right spots and the length is just perfect for my five foot five frame. They do run large so I sized down in the several pairs I own. Straight leg denim is perfect to wear with sneakers, loafers, clogs, mules, and booties.
Stripe Top
The Breton Stripe Top or a.k.a. the marinière in French is an essential part of my wardrobe and an essential part of the French woman’s wardrobe. The top actually originated in France when it became part of the French navy back in 1858. Then in 1913, Coco Chanel introduced the breton top to the world and the rest is history.
For Fall, I like to wear the top with jeans and booties or loafers for a more polished look. It also looks great under a classic trench coat or even a field jacket.
So many brands carry a breton top these days but I prefer to stay with the ones from Sèzane or J.Crew. I love the quality of the Sèzane one the best though as it’s a little more thicker. There’s also 4 buttons which go down the side that you can actually open if you want. This detail gives the top a little edge and makes it more fun.
J.Crew Field Jacket
Normally, you would think of a transitional jacket being between Winter and Spring but there’s also that period as we end Summer and move into Fall.
Depending on where you live, the days can still be hot but the evenings can start to become cool and this is where a great transitional jacket comes into play.
The J.Crew Classic Field Jacket is a great one to have right now in black or moss. It’s been updated a bit with cute corduroy trim, military inspired pockets, and it’s a bit of a more relaxed fit. I took the small but maybe could have went with an extra small even.
This jacket looks like the Barbour Waxed Jacket but is half the price and even on sale right now. Such a perfect jacket for layering with a sweater and wearing with jeans or even black pants.
If the field jacket is not something you would wear there’s always other great transitional jacket options like a classic trench, denim jacket, blazer, or even heavier cardigan.
If you are looking at Fall items, hopefully these 5 Fall clothing items to wear now have helped with your decision in some way. I would love to know what you all are looking for for Fall.
