Hotel des Saint Pères In Saint Germain
Hotel des Saint Pères In Saint- Germain-des-Prés
Saint-Germain-des-Prés is my favorite arrondissement in all of Paris and I make it a point to stay in this area when I visit. During this last trip, we stayed at the Hotel des Saint Pères, right in the heart of Saint Germain.
The hotel was in an amazing location, walkable to everything Saint Germain has to offer. Hotel des Saint Pères has 38 quaint rooms, all offering a different experience. Each room is decorated with antique furniture and authentic artwork.
We arrived at the hotel in the morning before our room was ready. The concierge was incredibly friendly and helpful and offered us their breakfast buffet while we were waiting.
You can choose to include breakfast in your room package or not include it. If you are someone who would rather go downstairs for breakfast versus walk around the area, take advantage of the buffet, as it was very good.
History Of The Hotel
The hotel dates back to 1658 and was built by the former architect to Louis XIV. It was once an apartment building and a private mansion.
In 1666 one of the tenants commissioned a fresco of floral motifs to be painted on the ceiling. The ceiling was later covered up and hidden until the 1980s when the hotel was purchased and renovated to what it is today.
Location Of Hotel des Saint Pères
The hotel is perfectly located to all of Saint Germain’s best sights such as Cafe de Flore, Les Deux Margot, Le Bon Marche, and Luxembourg Gardens.
Right down the alley from Saint Germain Boulevard, it’s easy walking distance to all of these places.
There are also several restaurants on nearby streets and a boulangerie as well for early morning pastries.
Try Steam Bar for incredible Asian food or if you are a Cyril Lignac fan, you can go to Aux Pres.
Around the corner from the hotel are stores like Celine, COS, YSL, and Prada. There are also other local stores like Officine Générale (a personal favorite).
The Rooms
Hotel des Saint Pères has 38 unique rooms and the one we choose to stay in was the Superior Room for 2 people.
The room was a nice size for Paris standards, I’ve stayed in much smaller. We requested two twin beds, which is usually never a problem, in most hotels.
There were more than enough drawers and closet space for 2 women, and when we requested more hangers, they were immediately brought up to us.
The room has beautiful French windows which open up to a peaceful and tranquil patio. Each night we left the windows open for air and it was incredibly quiet for a hotel.
Our bathroom was also a nice size and came with beautiful French body products.
Overall, I would stay at this hotel again in Saint Germain. The rooms were clean, generous in size, and quiet. The hotel staff was friendly and very accommodating.
If you are looking for a tranquil hotel with location to prime spots and friendly staff, Hotel des Saint Pères is for you.
