Introducing Nadège -Paris Travel Planner
Today on the blog, a little something different and out of the ordinary, but you will surely enjoy. Nadège is a Paris travel planner and today, she is sharing, “How To Live Like A Parisian In A Day.”
Nadège and I became acquainted after she reached out to me over email. We then had a lovely Zoom chat to get to know each other better. I love learning as much as I can about French culture, and truly appreciated the conversation.
Here, in Nadège’s words, she describes Paris and what it’s like to live like a Parisian in a day! Enjoy.
Paris’ True Magic
Paris. The name alone stirs up dreams of romance, culture, and adventure. It’s a destination on almost every traveler’s bucket list. While the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Champs Elysées are iconic and deserve their fame, there’s more to Paris than meets the eye.
Beyond the famous landmarks and world-class museums, Paris offers something even more
special: Its unique “art de vivre.” The true magic of Paris lies in its lifestyle.
Parisians know how to balance a busy schedule with life’s little pleasures. Take a sunny
business day, for instance—packed terraces prove that in France, you work to live, not the
other way around… No one misses a chance to extend lunch when the sun is shining, even
the boss.
Live Like A Parisian: A Day In Paris!
To truly experience Paris, you need to embrace this way of life.
Here’s what a day could look like if you lived like a Parisian for just a moment:
- Start your morning with a croissant and a café crème, watching the world go by from a terrace.
- Stroll along the Seine, stopping by the “bouquinistes” to find unique treasures like old books or a vintage print that would look perfect framed on your wall at home (a beautiful souvenir, right?).
- Explore the trendy Marais for a bit of shopping.
- Check the latest exhibit at Hôtel de Ville.
- Visit a local market like Marché d’Aligre, and maybe join a cooking class hosted by a Parisian in their home.
- Unwind at the Jardin du Luxembourg in one of those famous green chairs, soaking up the atmosphere.
You don’t want to miss all of this… and more! That list isn’t even exhaustive: I haven’t mentioned apéro (on a rooftop, it’s even better like at the Dame des Arts) and
dining!
Plan Like A Local
These experiences are what make Paris special. But finding hidden gems and knowing when to take a break can be tricky without inside knowledge. If you have a friend in Paris, easy, you’ll just have to follow their lead.
If not, a local travel advisor is the next best thing—you get the best recommendations without spending hours on Google.
Food: The God Of French Culture
If there’s one thing (besides the Olympics ) that unites all French people, it’s food!
Parisians and Provinciaux (people from outside Paris) alike worship God Food.
Though Parisians and Provinciaux may not always get along (Provinciaux often see Parisians as know-it-alls; Parisians sometimes view Provinciaux as old-fashioned), we all agree on one thing: food is sacred.
In France, eating is more than a necessity; it’s an art form. In France, meals are not just about feeding the body—they’re an experience. Lunch or dinner rarely lasts less than an hour; even a quick bite from a boulangerie involves fresh, high-quality ingredients; and we’re all quite judgmental when it comes to reviewing a restaurant… nothing worse than ending up in a place where you’ll get poor quality food and for a high price with that!
Each French region offers its own unique cuisine, but Paris has an advantage over the Province: you can taste them all in one place!
- Crêpes for one… You can’t get enough of those from Krügen,
- Or maybe you’d rather have seafood & bouillabaisse? Huguette in Saint-Germain is. your spot!
- And why not travel to the German border with a great choucroute from Bouillon Chartier?
- Without forgetting the sugar addicts: Stohrer, the oldest bakery in Paris and its delicacies are such a delight (don’t miss their Saint-Honoré, that one is a Parisian speciality)…
From Paris with love,
Nadège
