10 Best Clothing Purchases

Happy New Year friends! Today, I am rounding up my 10 best clothing purchases of 2021. I thought thh/is would be a great way to recap what pieces I bought, how much I used them, and determine the best clothing purchases.

A few things to note: I included accessories as part of clothing purchases as I didn’t buy enough accessories to warrant its own blog post.

Also, for reference, I am 5’5 1/2, a size 6 in bottoms, small in tops, and shoe size 6 1/2.

  1. Cuyana Leather Zipper Tote– Perfect for carrying around my laptop and other essentials for the day. This tote is light weight yet beautifully made. I know this is a tote I will have for years to come. In the past I’ve tried several totes and so far this is my favorite one. It’s practical yet stylish. You can also grab the tote insert to stay super organized.

2. CELINE Classic Panier- The key to finishing off any great outfit is always a great accessory and that includes handbags. This is such a classic bag for Summer and makes such a statement. I used this all Summer with very basic outfits and it was the perfect finishing touch. A CELINE bag is always an investment piece but it’s a classic bag I will be using for years to come and that’s why it’s one of my best clothing purchases of 2021.

3. Mer Sea Cashmere Sweater– One of my most worn sweaters for 2021 was definitely this Cashmere one from Mer Sea. The fit and color are perfect, and I wore the sweater with jeans and work pants. The sweater is lightweight, feels amazing, and so far hasn’t pilled or stretched out of shape despite the number of times I have worn it. I would love to add the other neutral color to my collection as well.

4. Rag & Bone Chelsea Boots– Every time I wear these boots I receive a ton of compliments and questions about where they are from. They are the perfect mix of comfort, style, and color. I invested in two boots this year and am very happy about both purchases. This pair is definitely worth the money and will last for years to come. Plus, the color is such a great neutral I can wear them with mostly everything. I took my normal size in these boots and they fit perfectly.

5. Sèzane Leather Belt– This year I feel like I wore belts more than any other time in past years. I think with studying Parisian fashion so much, I gained an appreciation for wearing belts with many different outfits. The right belt can truly make an outfit. You can see one way I wore this belt with this dress to Paris this Summer.

6. Sèzane Johnson Coat– One of my most favorite coats ever is the Johnson Coat from Sèzane. I have wanted this coat for several years now and finally decided on the Navy color. It’s beautifully tailored, is the perfect length for me, and goes with everything. I sized up one so I can wear sweaters underneath. I look back at photos from this Fall and Winter and I reached for this coat more than any others.

7. Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans– Madewell is one of my go-to brands for denim. Their denim always fits great, is affordable, and they have a petite option as well. Sometimes I will order the petite option if I want the jean to hit above my ankle. I am in the in-between stage where I am not short enough to be considered petite but not tall enough either for jeans to fit me correctly. The perfect vintage hits perfectly and I love the placement of the pockets on the backside. I have a longer torso also so high-rise jeans work for me vs. the lower-rise ones.

8. HERMÈS Oran Sandal– For years I have wanted these sandals and this was the one purchase I wanted to make when I went to Paris this Summer. I know it seems ridiculous to spend this much on sandals however I knew I would wear these enough to get my money’s worth. They are pretty much the only sandals I wore after I purchased them for the rest of the Summer. I wore them with dresses, skirts, jeans, and pants. They are casual enough yet still elevate a basic outfit.

9. Everlane Blazer– Everlane has some of the best blazers at the best prices. This oversized one doesn’t disappoint and sells out every year. I started wearing this in the Fall and will wear it into Spring. It’s relaxed yet still looks structured and has amazing quality. It does run large though and I ended up having to return and exchange for a smaller size. I have the Grey Herringbone but also have the black and plaid one on my list as well.

10. Mango Black Bag– When I go back and look at pictures of what handbags I carried this year, this black Mango one was in a ton of pictures. I bought it when it was on sale and it’s such a great black bag. The material is incredibly soft and it actually holds quite a bit. Plus, I like the fact I can wear it longer or shorter with the versatile strap.
