Summer Wardrobe Capsule

As with any season, when thinking about my summer wardrobe I focused on a Parisian-inspired summer capsule. And, with summer right around the corner, it’s time to transition over to those pieces for warmer days and longer nights.

For me, the Parisians always seem to nail down style so effortlessly and make it come together so perfectly. It’s a combination of having a good foundation of basics and wearing pieces that are timeless, chic, and classic. Nobody does it better.

When thinking about a capsule collection, it’s a way to have versatility in your outfits by mixing and matching pieces.

I’ve put together a list of 23 Parisian-inspired summer capsule pieces to help inspire your wardrobe this summer. These are all pieces that can easily be mixed and matched for the ultimate versatility.

The one thing to note though when it comes to capsule wardrobes, there’s really no rule on how many pieces you can or can’t have. It’s all about having that versatile wardrobe with classic pieces which can be worn together in multiple ways.

A few notes in regards to the items listed in this Parisian-inspired summer capsule. These are all pieces I would wear myself and I’ve even ordered several of them. I believe in quality products that I can rely on for years to come. I am not a huge trend person so you won’t see any of those on here.

Also, there are pieces I will spend more to invest in than others because I know I will have them for years to come. Ultimately, it’s up to each person to decide what to spend on their capsule pieces. I tried to find a good balance of quality items along with affordable price points.

LIGHT BLAZER– Love the puff sleeve detail on this three-quarter oversized light blazer perfect for daytime or cool evenings. Wear it with a silk cami underneath, jeans, shorts, or even trousers.

FLORAL TOP– A beautiful floral top in the prettiest shade of blue to wear all Summer. Parisians love their floral patterns and this top is no exception. Wear it with white or blue jeans or even shorts.

WHITE TANK– An incredibly interesting look is this white Cuyana tank for Summer. I love the detail of this top providing a little edgy Parisian vibe. Wear this tank with jeans, shorts, sandals, and even skirts. It’s very unexpected.

CARDIGAN– This is a great little cropped cardigan from Everlane, to wear over dresses, with a cami, and even shorts. The tie detail in the front gives a feminine look but not too much with the puff sleeve. Plus, I love this color for Summer.

DENIM SHORTS– Denim shorts are hard to find in a nice length that looks a bit more polished. Love these from Mango with the tie waist and paper bag look.

STRAIGHT LEG DENIM– Gone are the days of skinny jeans (thankfully), straight leg denim is what everyone in Paris is wearing right now. Love a lighter version like these AGOLDE for Summer to wear with tanks and floral tops.

POLKA DOT SKIRT– What could be more Parisian than a polka dot skirt in a great color that would be so cute with a white tank and sneakers.

WHITE TROUSERS– A great pair of trousers look polished, elevated, and timeless. These Mango white straight trousers are a great addition to your wardrobe. The length hits just right for sandals. Casual yet still classy looking. I love a great pair of white trousers with a black top or cropped cardigan.

WHITE BUTTON DOWN– You can never go wrong with a classic white button down shirt. One in linen is the best for summer to wear with jeans and shorts. You can even leave a few buttons open or tie it at the waist for a cute summer look.

BLACK SWEATER– Love the neckline on this Ba&sh short sleeve sweater. If you’ve never worn Ba&sh before, the quality is amazing and I’ve never been disappointed. Their looks are unique and very Parisian.

BLACK LINEN DRESS– A great little LBD linen dress for Summer that can be worn with sandals or sneakers.

SILK CAMI– The perfect base layer under blazers, cardigans, and even worn by itself. A silk cami in white and black are great basic pieces to always have on hand for any season.

TRENCH COAT– For those cool Summer nights, a trench is the ultimate Parisian way to go.

WHITE DENIM– No summer is complete without a great pair of white denim and these Madewell perfect vintage are my go-to.

WHITE TOP– A beautiful short sleeve collared eyelet top with cute puff sleeves. Love this top with jeans, sandals, and a straw tote for all those French inspired summer picnics.

NAVY DRESS– Great looking navy shirt dress that’s perfect for Summer days and nights. Could easily be dressed up with sandals or more casual with sneakers.

BLACK SANDALS– Leather strap sandals with buckle detail, great classic sandals that can be dressed up or down.

SUNGLASSES– One of my go-to sunglasses for years now, these Le Specs have a cute cat-eyed frame with tortoise shells. Such a flattering-looking sunglass.

ESPADRILLE– Classic summer Parisian shoe is an espadrille in white or black. I purchased these a few years ago and they are still as timeless looking as ever. The heel height is just right.

BROWN SANDALS– Mango always has a nice selection of leather summer sandals at very affordable prices. Love the leather braid detail on these.

SNEAKERS– My favorite Parisian girl sneaker, the Isabel Marant Beth. I find these very comfortable and I love the lower profile, perfect for dresses. I take my normal European size in these which is a 37. I wear a 6 1/2 in U.S. sizes.

STRAW TOTE– Ask any French woman and they will more than likely say they have a straw tote. It’s the ultimate summer accessory that goes with everything. This one from Mango is a great size to carry to the farmer’s markets, grocery runs, pool dates, and everything in between.

BLACK BAG– Even in summer, a black leather bag looks classic and timeless. This A.P.C. version is the ultimate Parisian bag to carry.
