How To Pack For Provence In Summer
How To Pack For Provence In Summer
Provence is a dreamy and charming destination for your summer vacation, and today I am going to share some ideas on how to pack for Provence in summer.
The summer months are a wonderful time to visit the region. The lavender is in full bloom, sunflowers are plentiful, and the Rosé tastes nice and crisp on a hot summer day.
Of course, this is also one of the busiest times to visit the area, as people flock to see sights such as the lavender in bloom and the Riviera heats up.

Weather In Provence In Summer
During the summer the weather in Provence can be beautiful but also steamy as well.
Outfits To Wear In Provence In Summer
When packing for Provence in summer you will want to keep in mind fabrics that are lightweight, comfortable, and still classic looking.
Linen is always a good option for places like Provence. Silk is another great idea because it will help to keep you cool.
Provence is a great place to wear bright colors and maybe ones you don’t normally wear every day. The style is a bit different than other French cities like Paris.

Locals tend to dress more for comfort versus fashion. And unlike places like Paris, you will see lots of floral prints, bright colors, and people wearing shorts.
However, there are still ways to look classic and polished but also make sure you are comfortable during your time in Provence.
Stick with pieces you can easily mix and match and ones that provide maximum versatility.

Bottoms
Linen and silk bottoms are excellent options to wear in Provence during summer. They are lightweight and help keep you cool at the same time.
Cuyana Silk Pants– I wore this version last summer in Provence in a different color and loved the ease. They were breezy and soft and easily went with tank tops and short sleeve tops.
I don’t worry about wearing pieces like this just because they are silk. I also don’t treat them any differently than any other bottoms I wear.
J.Crew Linen Pants– Another great pant option for sightseeing during the day. Easy enough to wear with tees and tanks. I own these in several colors because they are great summer pants and the length is perfect.
Cuyana Silk Maxi Skirt– A beautiful and classic skirt to wear with a white t-shirt or oversized shirt. For dinner, change into a white cami with sandals. Chic and laid back, all at the same time.
Bermuda Shorts– Since the weather will be warm, shorts are always a good option. Go with a nice Bermuda short which is a bit longer. Leave the short shorts and athleisure wear at home.

Shoes
When thinking about which shoes to pack go for ones that will be cool but also comfortable. There are a lot of towns in Provence that have cobblestone streets, so this is always something to keep in mind.
Pack a light pair of sneakers plus a few sandals that provide enough support to walk around but also look stylish as well.
Black Ankle Wrap Sandal– A chic and classic ankle wrap sandal you can wear with shorts, dresses, or skirts.
Cognac Sandals– Shoes that will go with any outfit and are timeless looking.
Sézane Jack Trainers– Some of my favorite sneakers to wear during the summer months. They are low profile, not heavy, and a cream color.

SWIMWEAR
If you are lucky enough to have a house or hotel with a pool, you will want to take advantage of using it in Provence.
There’s nothing better than coming back after a day of sightseeing, pouring a glass of Rosé, and heading to the pool.
J.Crew Bandeau One Piece– My favorite swimsuit from J.Crew is this beautiful bandeau in navy. It provides enough coverage and is a swimsuit I can feel good wearing. It comes in several different colors and is perfect for a Provencal pool day.
J.Crew Two Piece– If you prefer a two-piece bathing suit, this one is also beautiful with a matching top.
J.Crew Long Beach Shirt– This is a great coverup when you need to throw something on over your suit.

Accessories
For accessories, there might be items you want to pack such as a sun hat to protect your face, and a French Panier (or straw bag) to carry around like a local. Better yet, buy one in Provence at one of the many farmer’s markets.
You also want to think about accessories like sunglasses, simple everyday jewelry, or maybe even a statement necklace with some color to wear to dinner.
Packable Hat– You’ll want to keep your face covered on days the sun is bright and hot. Take a packable hat that can go in your suitcase, yet still offer the protection you want.
Market Bag– This is the bag I used all around Provence last summer. It’s an investment bag but it was big enough to carry items I needed for the day but also light enough.
Sunglasses– One of my favorite pairs of sunglasses that are chic and classic looking.
Long Chain Necklace– A beautiful necklace to wear during the day with linen pants and a cami. At night wear this statement piece with a dress for dinner.

BEAUTY
Keep your beauty products to a minimum and go natural like the French. Let your hair go free, keep your makeup bare, and just enjoy the beauty of the region.
A few beauty products to pack along to help with those sunny days is always a good idea. Just keep them in a small pouch in your market bag.
Caudalíe Beauty Elixir– I like to keep this in my bag during the summer months when I just want to feel a little refreshed. All it takes are a few sprays of this beauty elixir on your face, it feels nice and smells amazing.
La Roche Posay Tinted Sunscreen– This is my favorite sunscreen and one I have used for years. It’s lightweight and tinted, so most days I just put this on without any other makeup. It provides ample coverage for those hot summer days.
Avene Hand Cream– One of my favorite hand creams to keep my hands hydrated and looking smooth. I love this compact size to travel with.
