Sézane Best Sellers Sizing Guide
Sézane Best Sellers Sizing Guide
Today, I am providing an updated Sézane sizing guide to all the Sézane best-seller pieces I own. These are all pieces that Sézane considers French Heroes, and the ideal Parisian wardrobe-essentials.
If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know that Sézane is one of my favorite French brands to wear. I’ve actually been wearing Sézane since around 2017, and have loved watching the brand grow.
Over the years, I have added pieces for every season but these are the tried and true Parisian essentials and how I wear them.
If you aren’t familiar with the brand, the idea behind Sézane is to create high-quality, perfectly-cut pieces that can be worn forever. Sézane was born in Paris & crafted using the expertise of the best ateliers.
One reason I am such a fan of Sézane is the quality of each item I purchase and the timeless look of the pieces. The pieces I bought in 2017 are still just as beautiful today and I am still wearing them. You might invest more in some of their pieces but to me, they are worth the investment.
Certain items are considered Sézane essentials, and these items tend to always be in stock. Other items which are more seasonal will go quick so if you see something you like, you should probably grab it quickly.
SIZING
When it comes to Sézane sizing, the brand provides a handy sizing guide listed on each page you can reference that shows French sizes converted to U.S. sizes. If you are ordering from the U.S., the Sézane sizing is shown in U.S. sizes for each item.
For the most part, I take my normal size in most of their items. However, with some items specifically the eyelet tops and sweatshirts, I will always go up a size. I also go up a size for the denim as well.
For reference, I am a 5ft. 5 1/2 inches, size 6 and small in U.S. sizes.
They do provide descriptions of each item and give advice on sizing. If your order is over $200 U.S. dollars you qualify for free shipping.
I always recommend if you are unsure or if this is your first time ordering Sézane, maybe order two sizes and return whichever one doesn’t work. Sézane always offers free returns and they rarely have any kind of sale.
Once you know your Sézane sizing and how each piece fits you’ll feel more comfortable about ordering their pieces.
I have broken down each piece into a specific category of Tops & Blouses, Dresses, Knitwear, Jackets & Coats, Bottoms, Bags, & Shoes.
TOPS AND BLOUSES
Chloé Blouse
The Chloé is part of the brand’s iconic tops for many reasons, the one I am wearing is the embroidered version in a size 8. This version is perfect for Spring and Summer with jeans, pants, and even shorts. For Fall and Winter, I will go with a silk version of the Chloé.
Tomboy
The Tomboy is a great fitting button down which I own in the White, Blue, and Blue Stripes styles. It’s a little bit thicker of material which I love and can easily be dressed up or down. I wear them with jeans or pants.
There’s nothing better than a shirt you can always rely on and just throw on or dress up. I sized up in this to an 8 in U.S. sizes and 40 in French, because I have broad shoulders. If you want a fitted look, you could definitely size down.
Bianca
Sézane always has the best shirts with texture in my opinion. I love the look of this Bianca top in black but it also comes in white as well. I sized up to an 8 in U.S. size and a 40 in French size. This is a beautiful black top to wear for a date night or even just lunch with friends.
Colette Marinière
What’s more quintessentially French than a striped top? Sézane striped tops are my favorite and the Colette Marinière is no exception. I am wearing this top in a medium. I wear this top with pants, jeans, under blazers, with shorts.
Amour Sweatshirt
This Amour Cafe Creme sweatshirt was meant to be. All I did when I came home from Paris last Summer was talk about how amazing the cafe cremes were to drink every morning.
I saw this sweatshirt a few weeks later and knew I had to have it. Honestly, I don’t wear a ton of sweatshirts but I love this one and have it in the medium. I’ve even considered buying one of the other colors as well because I wear it so much on the weekends at home.
DRESSES
Vic Dress
Sézane does iconic black LBDs very simple and classic. This VIC dress is incredibly flattering and comfortable. The length is just perfect and it’s cut with a V shape neckline but not too low.
I wear my normal size of 6 in this dress and wear it with flats or sandals. It’s a great dress to throw on for weekend outings or a date night. I also love the bow details on each sleeve.
KNITWEAR
Léontine
The Léontine is easily my go-to sweater when I am not sure what to wear. This sweater was sold out for so long and I can see why. The stripes are great, the sweater feels great, and it’s not too heavy at all.
It looks so good with a variety of denim colors and I love the button detail down the front. It has a bit of a looser look to it but that’s one of the things I love about this piece. I have the Léontine in a size medium.
Gaspard
The Gaspard sweater is one of those pieces you can have in every color, I have 3 colors. It’s a perfect lightweight cardigan that is also warm enough to wear by itself or with a cami underneath.
One of my favorite things about the Gaspard is the ability to wear it either with the buttons in front or wear the buttons in the back, gives a completely different look. It does run a little large and I wear small in the Gaspard.
JACKETS AND COATS
Scott Trench
The Scott Trench is the best trench coat I have ever owned. The quality of the trench is amazing and you can instantly tell when you put it on the first time.
It’s a great length, has a removable belt, and keeps you warm from the elements.
I’ve owned many trench coats over the years and none of them have been as great of quality as this one. I sized up to the U.S. size 8 and French 40 because I want to wear sweaters underneath.
Every time I wear this trench, I get so many compliments. The trench is a true camel color so a bit darker but looks great with everything.
Wilfrield Jacket
A denim jacket is one of those items that you always need in your closet and one that you will have basically forever.
I purchased this Wilfrield jacket because my other jean jacket is really oversized and a bit too long in length. I wanted something more classic looking and one that hit around my hips.
I have a medium in this jacket and can wear a thin long sleeve shirt underneath. The jacket is a bit more of a darker blue than a lighter wash but I love the color of this jacket.
I’ve worn it with white jeans, shorts, black pants, and chinos.
Johnson Coat
The Johnson Coat is such a classic and timeless piece. I have it in Navy and did size up to an 8 so I could wear sweaters underneath. I love the length and structure of the coat. It doesn’t have pockets so keep that in mind if that’s something you want. The Coat also comes in several other colors but I love the elegant look of the Navy.
Michele Jacket
The Michele jacket is so classic and a beautiful shade of Navy. It’s a longer blazer with gold detail buttons and feels incredible. The jacket is more of a Fall/Winter jacket in my opinion and does run a little large. I ended up exchanging it for a smaller size and am wearing a size 6.
Will Jacket Camel Suede
The Will jacket is one of those workhorse jackets that go with everything. I bought the camel suede version in Paris one year because I don’t own anything else like it.
I have the jacket in a small and it fits nicely with short sleeves under the jacket. For tops, I’ve worn silk, striped, and eyelet under the jacket. For bottoms, I’ve worn light and dark denim as well.
BOTTOMS
Austin Trousers
The Austin Trousers are a great classic work pant with the perfect ankle length. They are more of a paper bag fit but very comfortable. I am wearing them in a size 6.
The trousers come with a tie belt but I don’t use the belt too much honestly and I’ve found it a bit short in length for me. These are high-waisted trousers with a more tapered ankle look.
Yves Trousers
The first time I saw these trousers, I knew I had to have them. They are high waist with a straight leg and very flattering. The inseam is long and I did have to get them shortened quite a bit.
I am wearing my normal pant size of U.S. 6 and French 38. In regards to Sézane sizing for bottoms, I can wear my normal size in trousers but go up for denim.
Serge Trousers
The Serge jeans are the first pair of denim I’ve ever owned from Sézane. I love high-waisted and flare jeans so these are perfect. They are a little stiff at first and it takes a few wears to break them in.
When it comes to Sézane sizing for denim, I went up a size to a U.S. 8 and am happy that I did. I also had to have these tailored in length because the inseam is a bit longer for me. I have a longer torso and shorter legs. If you are blessed with long legs then you probably won’t have to do a thing.
BAGS
Farrow
The Farrow is my first actual bucket bag and I love it so much. I bought it in Paris in April and have used it nonstop since. The leather is gorgeous and it hasn’t scratched at all.
The bag also doesn’t feel heavy even though it’s leather, and is easy to carry around. It comes in 3 different sizes and I am carrying the middle size.
SHOES
Sézane shoes are incredibly comfortable and worth the investment. I own several pairs from the brand, the Jack Trainers, Low Jade Mules, Gloria Sandals, Olympe Sandals, and Isabelle Clogs.
All of the footwear is handmade in Europe at one of their 3 Ateliers and I find Sézane sizing for shoes runs true to size.
I have a more in-depth Sézane shoe post that goes over each of these pairs and why I love them for Summer.
Hopefully, this Sézane best-sellers sizing guide has helped provide some helpful tips on what sizes to purchase from the brand.
