Spring French Girl Inspired Transition Jackets

Spring French Girl Inspired Transition Jackets

As we enter into a new season it’s time to think about transitioning those winter coats and jackets. Today, I am sharing 5 spring French-Girl-inspired jackets to wear and to also pack for Paris if you’re going.

These jackets are classic, timeless, and styles you can wear for years to come. As always, I am inspired by French women and the street styles of Paris. All of these jackets are ones you can easily dress up or down depending on your occasion.

The French Girl-inspired spring jackets are also ones you can find in investment or more budget-friendly price points. I often choose to go with more investment pieces and quality over quantity because I want to be able to wear the piece for years.

Hopefully, these 5 jackets help inspire your spring wardrobe and packing lists.

5 French Girl Inspired Jackets For Spring

Blazers

A blazer is one of the most versatile Spring French girl jackets you can have in your wardrobe and a perfect transition jacket from Winter to Spring.

Blazers are easy to layer, with a t-shirt or tank underneath for warmer temps. When it gets cooler, wear a sweater or long-sleeved t-shirt underneath.

This is the one jacket I always pack for Paris no matter the season. During the cooler months go for a wool or heavier blazer. And, in the spring and summer months go for lighter fabrics such as linen or cotton.

I wear the blazers with denim and sneakers for a casual look during the day and will change into trousers or a skirt for nighttime with sandals.

Navy and black are the colors I usually prefer in blazers but during the spring season, I like to wear white, like this one from Cinq a Sept, and lighter shades like this one from J.Crew.

Trench Coat

Nothing is more classic French than a trench coat. Not only will you find a trench coat in all Parisian women’s closets but it’s the perfect transition coat between seasons.

I always pack a trench coat for Paris during fall, spring, and even into summer as it’s lightweight and easy to layer. Parisian mornings can sometimes be cool so it’s nice to have a trench coat to start the day. Plus, you’ll see a lot of Parisians wearing them dressed up and dressed down.

You can always go with the traditional trench coat color of beige or khaki or add in some color this spring season with a navy or green trench. Long trench coats are the standard but this season, shorter trench coats are also stylish as well.

A few of my go-to trench coats are the Scott and Clyde both from Sézane and I added this navy Sandro pleated trench as well, which is super chic.

Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is classic, easy to layer, and easy to dress up or dress down. During spring and summer, I pack a denim jacket for Paris to wear with trousers or layer over t-shirts and wear with skirts.

You can go with a longer tie waist denim jacket such as this MANGO version or go with a classic version like this one from Sézane.

I also love investing in a unique denim jacket like those from Veronica Beard or L’Agence for an elevated look.

Boucle or Tweed Jacket

Tweed and Boucle jackets are always in season and there are always different versions from many different brands because they are timeless, elegant, and classic.

This season, Tweed and Boucle jackets are everywhere, even though they never go out of style. That’s why they are such a great transition jacket to have in your wardrobe.

They are also one of those classic pieces to wear in Paris because they look chic and timeless. When I think of tweed jackets, Coco Chanel immediately comes to mind, so I always associate Paris with a tweed jacket.

You can wear a silk cami under them with trousers for a classic look or dress them down with denim and slingbacks. Black is the color of choice but during spring wear lighter cream shades or even bring in some color with lighter blues or pinks.

I personally love and own the Gaspard Cardigan from ba&sh and the Meredith as well which both give that classic and sophisticated look of a Boucle and Tweed Jacket. Both of these jackets are well worth the investment because they will last for years and are incredibly chic.

Wool Coat

Favorite jackets to transition into spring to look like a French girl.

The weather in Paris during the spring season is always questionable and there are days when you will still need to wear a wool coat well into April.

It’s always a good idea to have a classic wool blazer or coat on hand in Paris and in general to take you from winter into spring because you never know when you will need to wear it.

If you don’t want to go with a heavier wool coat then go with a wool blazer that will be easy to layer with but won’t feel as heavy. I love this wool blazer from & Other Stories because it’s classic, warm, and I can dress it up or down.
