What To Pack For Paris In March
What To Pack For Paris In March
Heading to Paris in March, here’s an inspirational list of 23 items to help pack for Paris in March during the start of the spring season. Plus, there are seven versatile outfit combinations to try out.
March is a great time to head to the city of light; the winter thaw has begun, Parisians start returning to their beloved café terraces, and the city starts to come alive again.
Although spring is right around the corner, you must be prepared for cold days and nights and pack appropriately with many layers.
Also, comfortable shoes will be vital as you log all those miles in the city. Even though it’s still cold out, Paris is a complete walking city.
Weather In Paris During March
The weather during March in Paris tends to still be chilly but warmer days are ahead as you get to the end of the month. Average temperatures range from the low 40s to the high 50s.
With the weather being cold and there still being days of rain, you will want to make sure you pack appropriately and with the right accessories, including an umbrella and waterproof boots if you choose to pack some.
You can go with a traditional, more dressy waterproof boot or a more on-trend lug sole Chelsea boot.
Some pieces to keep in mind will be layering tees or camis. You will want to bring a wool coat to keep you warm and dry.
Of course, you can always stop into a local café for a warm glass of red wine to warm you up.
Shoes To Pack For Paris In March
Paris always involves a lot of walking, no matter what season you are in, but you will want to pack a pair of sneakers.
Everyone in Paris wears sneakers these days; popular ones are Adidas Sambas or Gazelles, Stan Smith, and VEJA.
This season, I am loving these Veronica Beard and New Balance as well, which are both neutral enough to pack for Paris.
If you’ll be wearing a lot of dresses or skirts, you might want to pack tall boots as well. And of course, waterproof booties are optional but might be a good idea as well.
You can see my entire post dedicated to the best walking shoes for Paris here and the ones I find the most comfortable during my trip.
My one tip is to make sure you take along some sort of gel insoles and these Moleskine pads to put on the back of your shoes.
Also, Paris is not a place to break into new shoes, so don’t bring a brand new pair to walk around the city.

Neutral Outfits To Wear In Paris In March
When I travel to Paris, I prefer to look more like a local vs. a tourist, so I try to stay very neutral regarding my outfits.
I make sure to pack versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched with each other.
Make sure to pack pieces that you can use for layers. Since the weather will still be a bit chilly, it’s best to wear layers under sweaters, a trench coat, or a blazer.
My favorite layering tops are from Cuyana, but Everlane and J. Crew also have great ones.
Packing basics will go a long way and give you more outfits. A good list would be a pair of blue or black denim—a pair of brown or black trousers and a long black skirt or dress.
You will see a lot of Parisian women in mostly jeans and trousers. Depending on the weather some will have on dresses or skirts with a jacket.
No athleisurewear so leave your yoga pants at home, please.
Another thing to think about is if any of your pieces need to be tailored before your trip.
I always make sure to take anything to the tailor a few weeks before the trip to ensure they are ready in time.

Travel Gear For Paris In March
When it comes to travel gear, I’ve learned over the years what works the best and items you may not think about but have helped me. Here’s what I currently carry on the plane.
A great carry-on bag for the plane which is comfortable enough to carry everything I need. I have this carry-on bag and also this AWAY tote which I rotate between.
Inside the bag, I pack my eye mask, water bottle, and slippers ( I like to put these on when I am on the plane).
Of course, my headphones are always with me as well as my Mer Sea wrap that goes everywhere. You can see all the Paris travel essentials I make sure to pack here.
Here are a few beauty tips for when I travel to Paris:
- I try to stay away from more than one alcoholic drink on the plane due to hydration.
- When I am ready to rest, I put on this hydrating face mask, or I recently used this Summer Fridays as well, to keep my face hydrated.
- Before we land, I use this eye cream or these eye pads to help with puffiness.
For my suitcase, I use these Amazon suitcases and they have been great, but I also carry this one on the plane as well. Inside your suitcase, it’s a great idea to pack Apple Airtags so you can always see where your luggage is located.
I use these packing cubes to help me pack more and these laundry bags.
This luggage scale always goes with me so I know how heavy my bags are, and this travel steamer is perfect and works very well, without a lot of backsplash.
Other important items not to forget would be adapters, phone and camera chargers. You can use a pouch like this to keep everything organized.
Also, I recently purchased this pill holder for my trip. I like that it has name labels you can use. This is handy to carry in your purse, especially when traveling with kids.
Included is a downloadable PDF packing list. Print this and check it off to ensure you have everything for your trip. You can download the packing list HERE, I’ve included the Winter list as it’s still chilly.
