Planning a trip to Paris during any season is exciting, especially during fall. Knowing what to wear in Paris in autumn can help make your trip more enjoyable.

Fall Weather In Paris, France In Autumn

Fall is one of the best seasons to explore Paris, and knowing how to prepare and pack for the weather will help you decide which outfits are appropriate.

The weather tends to be chilly in the mornings and evenings, with temperatures averaging around high to low 60s during the day and 40-50s in the morning and evenings.

October also tends to be quite rainy, so make sure to pack a travel umbrella, and waterproof boots are always a good idea.

Packing Tips For Paris In Autumn

Pack pieces that are versatile and ones you can easily mix and match. This will make getting dressed each day much more simple.

Plan out your outfits in advance while you’re packing based off your itinierary and daily activities while in the city.

Utilize travel essentials like packing cubes, travel size steamer or hair dryer if you need them.

Make sure to pack comfortable walking shoes for the city. Paris is full of cobblestone streets and you want to spend your time enjoying the sights, not worried about your shoes being comfortable.

Don’t pack new shoes for Paris. The last thing you want is to have blisters all over from wearing new shoes. Although, packing band aids in your bag is always a smart idea.

Some restaurants have a specific dress code, so you want to make sure you are packing appropriately for those places.

Animal Print + Jeans

Animal print is the print of the season. However, Parisian women tend to wear it each season. Wear a printed top or animal print pants to look stylish and on-trend in Paris this fall.

Denim + Button Down + Sweater

For a simple yet stylish look, wear your favorite pair of straight-leg denim, a white button-down shirt, and sneakers. Drape a sweater over your shoulder to keep warm while walking around the city.

Tweed Jacket + Denim + Slingbacks

A tweed jacket with a pair of wide-leg denim is an elevated look for lunches, museum days, or even shopping.

You can swap the slingbacks out for boots or another comfortable walking shoe, such as a ballet flat or other fall shoe.

Black Blazer + Silk Scarf + Denim

One of the items I always pack for a trip to the city of light is a basic black blazer. During fall and autumn, wear a wool blazer to stay warm yet still look stylish.

PinStripe Blazer + Silk Top + Sneakers

A navy pinstripe blazer is one of my other favorite blazers to pack for Paris in autumn. It’s super chic. Wear it with a silk tie-neck blouse or even a basic T-shirt or silk cami, a pair of wide-leg denim, and sneakers. You can also wear a plain navy blazer if you don’t love pinstripes.

Sweater Blazer + Wide Leg Denim

If you don’t gravitate towards a traditional blazer, wear a sweater blazer like this one from J.CREW and wide-leg denim. This blazer, with its gold button detail, is still chic and perfect for daytime Parisian sightseeing.

Silk Top + Dark Denim + Ballet Flats

A beautiful silk blouse is always a great idea to pack for Paris in autumn. You can easily dress it up or dress it down.

Wear it during the day with denim and ballet flats for a casual look and dress it up with trousers or a skirt and pumps for the evening.

Don’t forget that always adding a scarf to your basic outfit will elevate it a bit.

Fall is the perfect time of year to wear a camel wrap coat. It’s so versatile and can easily be mixed and matched with everything else you packed. I love this one from Sézane, but you can also go with this one from Mango or even wear just a classic camel coat like this one from Aritzia.

Pack a little black dress for evenings out because it goes with everything. For the fall and autumn, wear it with ankle boots, tall boots, or slingbacks.

Trench coat + Sweater + Flare Denim

You can’t go to Paris without a trench coat; fall is the best time to wear one. One of my favorite trench coats is the Sézane Scott Trench (I size up one to wear sweaters underneath), but I also love the Clyde (I sized down two for the perfect fit).

Wear your trench coat with denim and trousers to look a bit like a local one while staying warm.

Stripe Sweater + Dark Denim + Boots

A striped sweater is never a cliché in Paris, so be sure to add one to your Paris packing list. Whether it’s cotton, cashmere, or even wool, you’re sure to look classic while keeping warm at the same time.

Go with a basic long-sleeved stripe sweater like this one from Sézane, or a bit of glitter with this one from J.Crew. This would be an excellent piece for a dinner or evening out look.

Trousers + Denim Jacket + Sneakers

Another tweed jacket option to pack for Paris in autumn is a cream jacket to wear with wide leg denim. This is a great look for a day around the city or even a nice lunch.

A favorite color combination amongst Parisians is black and navy. It’s elevated, chic, and incredibly timeless. Wear a navy sweater or silk top with a pair of black trousers or jeans. This is a combination you can wear at anytime while Paris during the autumn season.

Navy Trench Coat + Dark Denim

Wear it with dark denim or pants during the day, a sweater, and boots or sneakers. For an evening look change the shoes to heels for dinner.
