What To Wear When In Paris For Every Season
What To Wear When In Paris For Every Season
Paris, the city of love, is one of only a few fashion capitals in the world. It is known just as much for the Eiffel Tower as it is for the fashionable women strutting down its cobblestone streets. Today, I am sharing a roundup of ideas on what to wear in Paris during every season.
As you plan your trip to Paris, don’t forget to prepare your outfits before you begin to pack. If you’re like me, even if you’re trying to pack light, you wouldn’t dream of visiting Paris without having several fashionable outfits planned. That said, choosing what to pack for Paris, including which outfits to wear, can be just as tricky as it is exciting.
So, today I’m sharing a round-up of outfits you can wear in Paris to look as chic as a local Parisian. A lot of these outfits can be worn throughout different seasons as well. If you’re curious about what men should wear, see this article about Paris outfit ideas for men.
Dress Like A Local In These Paris Outfits
I often mention the French Wardrobe Philosophy or the idea that you should invest in high-quality, versatile pieces that you can wear time and time again, therefore buying less over time. I urge you to consider this philosophy as you make your packing list for Paris.
One of the many reasons I adore Parisian style is because the locals make fashion and style look effortless. Even their casual, everyday looks are pristine and chic. It can be said that Parisian locals are the most fashionable people in the world. If you want to look less like a tourist, fit in with the locals, and make a fashion statement that could land you on a Best Dressed list, consider the following outfits for your trip to the City of Love.
Spring Paris Outfits Ideas
Blazer + Denim + Stripe Top + Basket Bag
A blazer is one of those pieces I pack for Paris, no matter the season. They are chic and classic and can be worn casually with denim or dressed up over a silk skirt and cami for a night out.
Depending on the season, you should consider the fabric of your blazer. During spring and summer, go for linen and lighter cotton. One of my favorites during the warmer months is this blazer by Cinq à Sept ( I wear a size 6). With its ruched sleeve details, it looks polished and elevated.

Trousers + Stripe Button Down + Ballet Flats
Classic and timeless, a striped button-down can never go wrong in Paris during any season. In the warmer months, wear it with jeans and trousers, and in the cooler months, layer it under jackets and sweaters. Plus, it’s one of the French wardrobe essentials.

Denim Jacket + Sweater + Trousers
I love the versatility of a good denim jacket. This denim jacket from Sézane is one of my favorites. For a casual look, slip on a pair of black denim pants, like these from Madewell, then add a tee and a good pair of white sneakers. You’re ready for a day exploring Paris like a true French woman!

Trench Coat + Dark Denim + Basket Bag
During the spring season, you will want to bring a coat or jacket as it’s still chilly in the early mornings and evenings. Paris has unpredictable weather, so it’s always best to be prepared with a trench coat.
My favorite trench coats are the Clyde ( I sized down 2) and Scott from Sézane, but any trench will do as long as it keeps you warm and comfortable.

Linen Blazer + Tee + Tailored Pants + Flats
Another chic spring outfit to wear in Paris features a polished linen blazer. This J. Crew linen blazer, in any shade, is a classic spring staple. You can easily mix and match it with other pieces in your wardrobe to create different looks all year long.
Wear a tee underneath, and add a silk scarf for an elevated touch of Parisian style. Then, slip on a pair of tailored pants or trousers, like this pair of linen trousers from J.Crew, with flats for an effortless daytime look or even a brunch outfit.
Above, I am wearing the white version of this blazer that I also have in black and wear in Paris.

Silk Top + Dark Denim + Gold Sandals
A silk top is one of my favorite pieces to wear in Paris during the spring season and even into fall. This is a favorite one from Sézane (I wear a size 6). I love to wear it with dark denim and gold sandals for an elevated and chic look.
This is an excellent look for visiting a museum, a day of shopping, sitting on a terrace, or dinner in a bistro.

Once the days start to warm up a bit from the winter temperatures, Parisians will be bringing out their trench coats and basket bags. Worn with a simple pair of black trousers and sneakers, this is the perfect springtime Parisian look.

A favorite to wear in the spring season is a navy dress with a dark denim jacket. Casual yet still polished for walking around during the day and seeing the sights.

Summer Paris Outfits Ideas
White Button Down + Jeans + Flats + Leather Handbag
For one of the most classic looks a French woman can wear, start with a crisp white button-down. A good-quality white button-down is a staple because it’s just as versatile as chic. Pair it with jeans, sandals, or ballet flats, and a leather handbag for a beautiful summer outfit that fits right in on the streets of Paris.
To effortlessly transition this look from day to night, add a blazer and swap the flats for heels.

Crop Jeans + Long Vest + Sandals
I love to wear a chic vest with a belt around the waist and a pair of denim. Not only is it flattering and elevated but very chic. The belt brings the look together and takes it up a notch. I’ve linked some similar vests and any brown belt you have would do.

Little Black Dress
An easy and breezy LBD is always a good idea for Paris no matter the season. However, in the warmer months go for something lighter and airy.

Button Down + Crop Denim + Sandals
The weather in Paris can still be cool sometimes during the summer season. I always pack multiple button-down shirts for maximum versatility. They are easy enough to wear with a pair of crop denim or black trousers.

Skirt + Tee + Sandals
A beautiful yet hot day requires a flowy skirt, t-shirt, and sandals. The flowers are optional. While, you won’t usually see bright florals in Paris (they are saved more for the south of France), this is still a look you can wear in the city to walk around during the day.

The days when you want to wear a dress for a casual brunch and outings to the museum or shopping afterward, go with a classic dress. You can wear a blazer over the dress for a more elevated look and take it off when you want to be more casual. When it’s a bit colder out, you could easily still wear this outfit with tights, tall boots, and a longer coat.

Wide Leg Denim + Houndstooth Blazer + Boots
A Houndstooth blazer is a great option for Paris during the fall season, in addition to a black blazer. Wear it with wide-leg denim and a turtleneck or cashmere sweater.

Black Blazer + Wide Leg Denim + Sneakers
Another favorite black blazer to take during the fall is the Christie from Sézane. It’s double-breasted and a bit more dressy yet casual enough to wear daily. It’s easy enough to wear with my favorite MOTHER denim and a pair of comfortable sneakers.

Trench + Sweater + Tailored Pants + sandals
This outfit is one of my go-to brunch outfits! However, you might want to opt for a wool coat for added warmth on especially cold fall days and a pair of ankle boots instead of sandals. A trench coat over a sweater is usually perfect for staying warm and looking on point during a visit to Paris in the fall.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a French woman who doesn’t own a classic trench coat. Their versatility makes them a must-have, so I recommend investing in a good one. My favorite is the Scott Trench from Sézane.
To look like a local on the streets of Paris, style your trench coat with a warm sweater, tailored pants or black denim, and ankle boots.

Winter Paris Outfit Idea
Navy Blazer + Black Pants + Scarf + Boots
A navy blazer is always elegant and polished looking, especially with dark denim (I prefer a navy and black combination) and a cozy scarf to keep you warm. Parisians love to wear navy and black together and nobody does it better in my opinion.

Wool Camel Coat + Sweater + Trousers
A camel wrap coat is classic and versatile during the cooler months of fall and winter. Layer it with a cashmere sweater, warm wool pants, and sneakers, and you’ll stay warm while looking chic for the day.

Dark Denim + Sweater + Coat + Boots + Scarf
You want to be layered and bundled up during the frigid days in Paris. Think about a cashmere sweater, heavy scarf, wool coat, and boots. I usually pack at least one pair of waterproof boots during this time because the last thing you want is wet feet when walking around Paris.
