What To Pack For Paris In April
What to Pack for Paris in April
Heading to Paris in April and need some help with what to pack for the spring season in the city of light. Here are 24 classic and chic pieces to help you with your packing list and what to take.
April is one of my favorite times to visit the city during the year. Tourist season isn’t in full swing yet, locals are out and about enjoying the city to the fullest, café patios fill up again, and the weather is quite pleasant.
April is the prime time to view the city coming to life with Cherry Blossoms, apple trees, and tulips everywhere. It’s an excellent time to explore Paris’s many parks and gardens.
Weather In Paris During April
The weather during April in Paris is usually in the low 40s in the morning to the 60s in the afternoon. Mornings are brisk and rain is common during April, so you want to make sure you are prepared.
I’ve been there in April before and had to buy a heavy wool coat because it was so cold and all I packed was my trench, so you always have to be ready for any kind of weather in Paris during the spring season.
Shoes To Pack For Paris In April
Packing the right shoes for Paris in April is essential for style and comfort, as the city is best explored on foot.
Springtime in Paris can be unpredictable, with mild temperatures, occasional rain showers, and plenty of cobblestone streets to navigate.
A classic and comfortable pair of sneakers is a must—think timeless white leather styles like Veja or Stan Smiths, which blend effortlessly with Parisian fashion while providing support for long days of walking.
Parisian women favor chic yet practical footwear, so opt for sleek designs that complement jeans and dresses.
Pack a pair of stylish ballet flats or loafers for a more polished look. These are perfect for transitioning from daytime sightseeing to evening dinners at charming bistros.
Brands like Repetto or Sézane offer beautiful yet comfortable options that add a touch of Parisian elegance without sacrificing practicality.
If you prefer a bit of height, choose low-heeled ankle boots or block-heeled pumps, which provide stability on cobblestones while elevating your outfits. Stick to neutral tones like black, beige, or navy to ensure versatility with your wardrobe.
Finally, remember to bring a pair of weather-appropriate shoes in case of rain. April showers are common, so a pair of water-resistant ankle boots or chic Chelsea boots can be a lifesaver.
Avoid packing bulky rain boots, as they can be impractical for travel and not in line with the Parisian style. Instead, opt for leather or suede boots and use a protective spray to keep them looking fresh.
With these carefully chosen shoes, you’ll be ready to explore Paris in comfort and effortless style, no matter what the spring weather brings.
Also, Paris is not the place to break in new shoes, so don’t bring a brand new pair to walk the city. Paris is also full of cobblestone streets, so keep your heels for dinner only.

Neutral Outfits To Wear In Paris In April
When I pack for Paris, I prefer to blend in and look more like a local. I tend to stick with a neutral color palette but also pack versatile items that can easily be mixed and matched to look chic and classic during the spring season.
Make sure to pack pieces that you can use for layers. Since the weather will still be chilly in the mornings, wearing layers under sweaters, a trench coat, or a blazer is best.
You will see many Parisian women in jeans and trousers. Depending on the weather, some will wear dresses or skirts with jackets. There is no athleisurewear, so please leave your yoga pants at home.
Another thing to think about is whether any of your pieces need to be tailored before your trip. I always make sure to take anything to the tailor a few weeks before the trip to ensure it is ready in time.
Travel Gear For Paris In April
A reliable carry-on bag is essential for a comfortable flight, and I always choose one that fits everything I need while being easy to carry. I personally use this carry-on bag, but this Lo and Sons is also a great alternative.
I always pack an eye mask for better rest, a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, and slippers for extra comfort during the flight.
My headphones and Mer Sea wrap are must-haves. I take them everywhere for added warmth and style.
You can find all of my Paris travel essentials here.
For my checked luggage, I rely on these Amazon suitcases, which have proven durable and spacious. To stay organized, I use packing cubes, which help maximize space and keep everything neatly arranged.
I also bring laundry bags to separate worn clothes and keep my suitcase fresh. A luggage scale is always with me to ensure my bags stay within airline weight limits, and my go-to travel steamer keeps my clothes wrinkle-free and ready to wear.
These travel essentials make packing for Paris effortless and ensure that I’m prepared for both the journey and my time in the city.
With the right gear, I can travel comfortably while keeping my luggage organized and my outfits looking their best

My daughter taught me this tip. She brings a foldable duffel bag in her carry on. We put the clothes we took to Paris in it so new purchases go in our carry on suitcase. It was great!
Oh! That’s a wonderful idea, thank you for sharing.
Have a great day,
